It's fall election time

Fall means it’s time for Board Member Elections, and as per Regulation 441, OPVG has appointed Canlead Solutions as our Returning Officer to oversee elections for 2023.

There are four current Board positions up for election – two in District 1, and one each in Districts 2 and 3. Here are the current Board Members whose two-year terms are wrapping up this year:

  • District 1: Chris Stewart and Tom Keller
  • District 2: Carl Merrick
  • District 3: Neil Reimer

The nomination period will be from October 3 to 14.

Watch for notification from Canlead Solutions later this month.

November Policy Day

We are planning a Policy Day in London later this fall for District delegates. Details are still being finalized, but we will be reviewing policy papers and assisting the Board in crafting directional policies for the District committees.

Watch for details in the coming weeks.

COMMUNITY

OPVG featured in Fortinos campaign

Throughout the month of August, OPVG was a key partner in Fortinos Pick Ontario First campaign. It’s the second year the GTA-based grocery chain – a division of Loblaw – ran the campaign to build awareness with customers about the food produced from local Ontario farms, with a special focus on farm associations. The mostly online campaign – using flyers, newsletter and online shopping – was designed to educate and engage with customers of the company’s 23 locations. OPVG was one of several Ontario ag commodity groups and Foodland Ontario featured in the program.
