Send in your resolutions

As we head towards this year’s AGM, OPVG is encouraging growers to

submit any resolutions through their District committee or directly to OPVG

at opvg@opvg.org. Resolutions can be submitted before and during the AGM on March 30.

We are here to advocate and serve Ontario’s processing vegetable growers, and we do our best work when we know what’s important to you.

The 2026 OPVG member survey is ready for you. We need your input and feedback as we plan and prioritize the work we focus on. There are 12 questions and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All responses are confidential.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by March 20, 2026. As a small thanks for taking the time to tell us what’s important to you, we’ll send you a $10 Tim Horton gift card.*

Thank you for your input.

*One gift card per completed survey by a current member of OPVG. Gift cards will be mailed directly to OPVG members who complete the survey by the deadline and provide mailing information (see question #13). No cash value.

Research Highlights

Dr. Steve Loewen, Interim Director at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus, was recently featured in the university’s Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance news, where he discussed his decades-long research in tomato breeding. His valuable work focuses on developing improved processing tomato lines with stronger disease resistance, earlier maturity, and better adaptability for Ontario’s tomato growers and beyond.

Much of this work has been made possible through funding support from the OPVG's OTRI Committee. Check out the full article HERE.

Advanced Payments Program Webinar Recording Available

The recording of our February 5 webinar on the Advanced Payments Program is available to watch at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV5glbD6ksw

As a reminder: The Advance Payments Program (APP) is a Government of Canada program which supports the provision of cash advances to fruit and vegetable producers across Canada.

In Ontario, this program is offered by Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC) and helps make the purchase of inputs more affordable. The program offers at least $100,000 interest-free on the loan, with an additional $900,000 available at Prime Interest Rate.
