Tomato Arbitration
The Award was in favour of Heinz. The Heinz 2010 price for tomatoes for paste will therefore be $93.65/ton. Reasons for the decision are expected within the next two weeks, after which the submissions of both parties plus the written reasons for the decision will be forwarded to all tomato growers.

LADII Receives Premier's Award
Congratulations to the Leamington Area Drip Irrigation group (LADI) for being awarded the Premier’s Award for Agri-Innovation Excellence on April 12, 2010. The award, which includes a $100,000 cash prize, was a result of the construction of a water pipeline to be used by local processing tomato producers.

COMMAND Registered
After countless emergency use registrations and years of watching growers elsewhere apply COMMAND on crops that subsequently entered Canada, Ontario cucumber, squash and pumpkin growers finally have a minor use registration for COMMAND.

2010 Sweet Corn Settlement
Agreement has now been reached with respect to 2010 sweet corn for processing. The price per ton is $78.25, down from $93 in 2009. The planting premium clawback was also removed from the Agreement.

Agreement was reached with Bonduelle Ontario Inc. on the 2010 crop of lima beans for processing at the rate of $428 per gross ton. The lima bean contract is now a no tare contract whereby the delivered weight is the payable weight.
