2010 Squash Settlement
Agreement was reached today for 2010 Butternut squash. The price for Hand Harvest settled at $118/ton compared to $115.50/ton in 2009. The price for Machine Harvest for 2010 is $108/ton compared to $110.50 in 2009. All other clauses remained the same as in 2009.

Green Pea Negotiations
Green Pea negotiations concluded yesterday with Agreement on all issues except price. The grower final price offer is a net of tare offer whereby the grower would be paid on gross weight. The -17% offer of the growers accounts for both the removal of tare from the Agreement (5 year average tare is approximately 9%) and a further price deline of 8%. The processor final offer with no change in tare from previous Agreements is for a 12% price decrease. The arbitration will be held the last week

Agreement was reached today with Smucker Foods of Canada Co. and Strubs Food Corp. for 2010 Banana Peppers for Processing. The price for both hot and sweet banana peppers under Option A or B is $360/ton compared to $394/ton in 2009.
