Primary Function
Annual negotiation of prices, terms and conditions of sale of 13 processing vegetable crops on behalf of growers. Processors then contract their requirements directly with the individual growers of their choice.
Crops Involved
Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Sweet Corn, Green Peas, Green & Wax Beans, Carrots, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Beets, Peppers, Pumpkin, Squash and Lima Beans.
Resources
Growers have committed approximately 1% of their annual gross returns which generates approximately 1 million dollars annually primarily for the purpose of sourcing market data and industry information.
Producer Representation
850 processing vegetable growers in the three districts across Ontario.
District committeemen elected annually at a rate of one committeeman per twenty growers.
District committeemen elect provincial directors to the local board from each of their districts in accordance with the provisions of the marketing plan.
10 provincial directors.
